COUNCILLORS' HALF-TERM REPORTS from last Public Meeting

Several Borough Councillors made "half-term" reports at the last Public Meeting of the Forum, followed by a lively question-and-answer session.
Herewith extracts from the reports of Cllrs Whelan, McHugh, Thackray & Crookshank-Hilton:

CLARE WHELAN (Thurlow Park, Lambeth)

++ listening to residents concerns about the proposed very large Tulse Hill CPZ
++ devising strategies to deal with anti-social behaviour at Tulse Hill station
++ supporting an all-party Climate Change Committee in the Council
++ taking up on-going issues regarding the reliability of the 3 bus, plus issues on speeding
++ trying to reverse the withdrawal of money for improved access at Tulse Hill station
++ working with Southwark to get better youth facilities on 2 adjacent estates

KIRSTY McHUGH (Herne Hill, Lambeth)

++ working with Milkwood Road residents to avoid location of dustcarts there
++ supporting the Herne Hill Junction scheme
++ contributing to the consultations on the proposed CPZ north of Herne Hill
++ working on an extension of the Conservation Area
++ working with Loughborough Junction residents to establish a Forum which can
successfully campaign for improvements in their area

BECCA THACKRAY (Herne Hill, Lambeth)

++ ensured that green aspects were fully considered at Michael Tippett school
++ putting proposals to the new Evelyn Grace Academy to give priority to green issues
++ supporting Jessops school in getting more agencies to use the school
++ putting questions to the Council and Project Board about the Herne Hill Junction scheme
++ giving better publicity to recycling issues and pressing for more education in this area

ROBIN CROOKSHANK-HILTON (Village, Southwark)

++ working with local traders and voluntary groups to address their concerns
++ raising money for youth activities and a youth Club in the Sea Cadets' hut
++ getting heritage lights and hanging baskets for the Herne Hill Parade shops
++ working with traders and residents in Norwood Road to tidy up the area
++ applying for CCTV for the Norwood Road traders and helping to secure funding for
the new trees
