LAMBETH'S REVIEW OF LICENSING POLICY 10TH MAY

Lambeth's Environment Scrutiny considered a paper on 10th May of how the statutory review should take place.
The document is here
http://www.lambeth.gov.uk/moderngov/Published/C00000111/M00000328/AI00002211/$Item5LicensingMay2007.docA.ps.pdf

The main paragraphs quote here
2.3 Officers will prepare a document that sets out the parts of the policy that they consider need to be reviewed.

2.6some parts of the current policy do not adequately reflect the changes that have occurred.
For example many premises in residential areas have extended their opening hours beyond those that were envisaged in the original policy.

2.7 consideration needs to be given to revising the policy in relation to issues such
as these, so that applicants are clear that there is an expectation that the will take account of the potential impact of the premises on the vicinity, particularly in residential areas............by carrying out their own consultation with neighbours before submitting an application.

Further points
One of the Licensing objectives is the prevention of crime and disorder.
Another is the prevention of public nuisance...control of noise
Draft revised policy to be drafted for July 2007.
EXTERNAL CONSULTATION August 2007.
