HERNE HILL JUNCTION  SUPPORT FROM BOTH SOUTHWARK AND LAMBETH  CONSERVATIVES.

The following letter appears in this week's South London Press.

Clare Whelan  is member for Thurlow Park Ward  which covers part of Herne Hill and was Executive member for Environment in the pevious Lambeth Administration.
Nick Vineall  is chair of the Dulwich Comminity Council.

Letter...........

We would like to add our support for improvements to
make the Brockwell Park/Herne Hill junction safer and
easier for pedestrians, cyclists and motorists to
negotiate.  No one can dispute that the centre of
Herne Hill would benefit, and we are keen to work with
residents and politicians of all parties to that end.
It is important of course that the amount of park
taken really is the minimum nec¬essary and, ideally,
we would like to see new public conveniences replace
the old ones which have come to the end of their
useful life.  If this can be achieved, and the
entrance to the park improved at the same time, we are
all for it.
Cllr. Clare Whelan (Lambeth)
Cllr. Nick Vineall (Southwark)"
