STATION IMPROVEMENTS

HERNE HILL STATION GOES ACCESSIBLE

Under Network Rail's    £350million  programme    to make  strategic stations  accessible, work has begun  and this week saw  the installation of a special ticket window to make it easy for someone in a wheelchair to purchase a ticket. Work has already started on the installation  of two lifts., which will make a world of difference
for  everyone.
We are fortunate to be in the programme and also in the early phase.
10 London  suburban stations are being improved  of which three are in Lambeth.
This follows   investment  from the GLA upgrading the  security cameras at Herne Hill and  some other stations.
The old system of video film  has been replaced with live transmission
to a  staffed monitoring unit. allowing police to be summoned at the time of an incident.
