SHOPS UNDER THREAT

CROSSTHWAITE AVENUE SHOP RENT INCREASES
LOCAL POSST OFFICE CHEMIST ETC UNDER THREAT.

Dear Paul

I know this is on the edge of your area but may affect some of your readers and an issue for your blog---the above shops, which include a post office and a chemist are under threat of closure as the Council have applied huge rent increases at a time when Sainsburys is building a pharmacy into its extension at Dog Kennel Hill. The Three Hills Community forum together with the  Estate TR&A have presented to Southwark Council, a petition of nearly a thousand signatures and the matter is on the agenda of the Executive meeting on 24 april.
There is real concern as to the impact on the ageing, frail and immobile  population on this estate should these services be lost. I would urge anyone affected by this threat to give their views to their ward Members
