EDUCATION RACE AND S

EDUCATION, RACE AND SOCIAL ACTION

Dear Colleague

I would like to invite you to a unique debate on Education, Race and Social Action.  The debate will be led by Professor Gus John, the internationally-recognised commentator and practitioner in British education and community affairs, who will stimulate thinking and ideas around issues analysed in his new book Taking a Stand.

There will be brief presentations from myself, Professor John and others involved in education, and we will then go into the debate proper.  Our objectives are to:

We are delighted to be working with Professor John on this important event, and I very much hope that you will be able to join us.  (Fuller biographical information on Professor John is set out at the end of this letter.)

(Letter continues over page)

The debate will be on Thursday 28 September 2006, in the Assembly Hall at the town hall.  We invite you to join us at 5.30 pm for light refreshments before the debate
starts at 6.00 pm.  I have enclosed a separate sheet for you to confirm your attendance.
