LIDO OPENS AT 6.45 19TH JUNE
A hardy band of swimmers queued from 6.30 this morning to be first in the Lido.
by about 40 people had turned up - most buying the season ticket at £80.
Seasoned swimmers said the water was warmer than usual due to the warm weather over the last couple of weeks and the fact that it had taken 10 days to fill up due to low water pressure in London.
BBC Radio and Television arrived to carry out interviews with Mary Hill, Mary Fogarty and Giles Gibson and others.
Casey McGlue is managing the swimming on behalf of Fusion and the refreshments kiosk isalreadyy open with a range of healthier snacks than in the past out do chips and burgers ( hot dogs are retained). Speciality breads and rolls. are also available.
Rob Pagano, Fusion manager expects works to start shortly. The first job is for
Thames Water to move the water main ( this wont affect the swimming as it takes place in the park.
