Half term workshops and events at Black Cultural Archives
In search of African Splendour - Thursday 1 June 2006, 4-9pm An event in partnership with New Initiatives, for young people and families featuring workshops, film and discussion. ORIGIN Graduates will be screening their DVD entitled “In Search of African Splendour” at the Royal College of Art (RCA). Here they report back after facilitators gave them the assignment to “Find out what we know about pre-colonial Africa”. Equipped with a video camera they launch an investigation stopping unsuspecting passers-by in Brixton and speaking to historians and lecturers. They are enriched and inspired by their discoveries. The work of African-born Graduates from the BCA’s ORIKI exhibition will also be showcased and some of the artists will be available for talks and workshops.
