HERNE HILL STADIUM (VELODROME)
TO RE-OPEN ON 5 AUGUST
The future of the Cycling Stadium in Burbage Road has been assured for the next three years following an agreement between the owners of the land, Dulwich Estates, and British Cycling.
The Velodrome will re-open on Friday 5th August and, although the Stadium will not host the Olympics as was at one time hoped, it will play a role in developing cycling in the capital: for example, Talent Team Squads
will get essential use of the track for training and events and a thriving local Club should now be within reach.
There is also a plan to add a leisure and sports complex at a future date, although there has been some opposition to this locally.
