AFTER MONTHS OF FRUITLESS LOBBYING TO ALERT PEOPLE TO THE IMPENDING CONSULTATION ON EXTENDING THE 42 rOUTE THE IDEA OF RUNNING IT TO EAST DULWICH HAS RESURRECTED ITSELF.
ONE IDEA IS TO RUN IT DOWN MELBOURNE GROVE TO SAINBURYS THEN UP DOG KENNEL AND THEN TO CHAMPION HILL AND THE CAMBERWELL- NO MENTION OF HOW YOU GET BACK - SUGGEST AUTHOR GOES BACK TO HIS HORNBY DUBLO TRAIN SET. ALSO THE OPPORTUNITY WOULD BE TO TAKE IT TO LORSHIP LANE AND ADD TO THE REVITALISATION OF THE EAST DULWICH SHOPPING CENTRE TURNING AT GOOSE GREEN THUS GIVING ACCESS TO THE HOUSING OFFICES AND LEISURE CENTRE-
CONSULTATION EXTENDED TO 4TH MARCH

DE are talking to a commercial partner believed to be CANNONS Leisure group about the future management of this 9 acre site.

BROCKWELL PARK EVENTS.

An entertainments license was recently granted to Field Textiles for a 3 day music event 10th to 12th june , finishing about 9pm each evening. The expected numbers are 10,000 each day
and the fee for the hire of the park is we understand about £25,000 now this seems to differ from the scale of charges which is about 1.80 per head for a single day event. So there seems to be a generous discount given by the poeple of Lambeth to stage this event.

A large churches Youth Rally pulled out last year as they were going to be charged
£70,000. So preference seems to be going to commerecial organisations.

MEANWHILE THE CANNABIS COALTION who each year have provided a free festival
have had their request for another festival turned down. We have heard off the record that its on account of the aggressive drug dealing that took place last year.
There was a subversive attempt to derail this by persuading one group to shift a booking from August to June but this didnt quite work.

HERNE HILL VELODROME CLOSES

Southwark Council have had their efforts to extend the lease at the Veldrome
frustrated by Dulwich Estates who understandably are unwilling to offer a fourth extension.

There are several factors , local opposition but chiefly lack of progress by the London Velodrome Trust to firm up their future capital funding package.
An ambitious programme of raising £7m was severley hampered by
Sport England allocating only a total of £2m. for London Capital bids & a ceiling of £500K per bid. Sport England is currently pressing the government for an increase in funds and should hear in July. Even with better funding conditions the Trust would still be left to find £5m.

The London Development Agency promise of £1m is not identifiable in any budget.

Dulwich Estates were asking Southwark Council to act as guarantor -
Dulwich Estates are currently negotiating with a Sports and Leisure organisation for continuation of facilities on the site.

42 ROUTE TO COME TO HERNE HILL

London Buses are consulting on a proposal to bring the 42 to Herne Hill Junction
turning at Rymer St and Hurst St. The consultation ends 25th Feb

consultation@tfl-buses.co.uk

Information and copies of the document will be available at the Forum 8th. Feb
Other local suggestions are to run it to East Dulwich serving the shopping centre and linking hospitals.

The 42 could turn at Morval Road where there is a bus stand thus avoing the clutter the residential roads at HH.

Milkwood Residents are being supported by the Forum in their Efforts to have the 201 extended to Loughborough Junction via Milkwood Road

BUS CHANGES GALORE.

p15 Saturday only circular to Sainsburys in East Duwlci withdrawn from 18th December.

37 to be rerouted away from Melbourne Grove and directly along East Dulwich Grove to Lordship Lane.

322 Current provision in Herne Hill to remain but from 30th April will
takeup route of 355 in Brixton to Clapham Common. Frequency will reduced to 15 mins daytime mon to sat and 20 mins off peak. Once works are completed it will proceed directly along Atlantic Road to Brixton Road rather than the present diversion via St Matthews , which presently adds an additional 6 sets of lights
to the route. new arrangements will prevent all traffic from entering Atlantic Road at Coldharbour Lane. This will improve the trading conditions for shoppers and will reduce vehicle flow at Herne Hill.

The 196 will pick up the present 322 route from Brixton to Elephant.
