FORUM MEETING 12TH OCTOBER.

85 people turned up to hear the debate on the proposal for a City Academy on the Shakespeare Road site.
The council is proposing a four form entry on about 2.5 acres.
The Cleanaway operation would continue to work alongside on the remaining 3 acres. The mood of the meeting was that this was not viable and Academy ought to be 6 form entry to maximise funding and to be able to offer an extensive curriculum. A sponor is interested in the project. The forum asked all parties to work co-operatively to get the best result.
Speaking on the subject Anthony Bottrall thanked us for the spirit of the debate. Tessa Jowell added her support to the campaign as did Sally Prentice the Opposition spokesperson on education.
( Anthony is the Executive member for Education.)

CAFE PROV AND PAVEMENT UNDER BRIDGE

Repairs to the pavement were carried out this week as a result of an approach made to Southwark in March. After a follow up recently, they replied saying it was a Lambeth job. Lambeth advised they would carry it out then wrote sying they could only do part of the pavement in front of the Cafe No 4 but not No.6. The work was carried out this week by a Crowley who nromally work for Southwark. No-one is saying anything. We are just glad the work has been carried out.

LAMBETH POLICE CONSULTATIVE GROUP 5TH OCTOBER

meets this month at St. Vincent's Community Centre Talma Rad .6pm
The headline topic this month will be gun crime.

CITY ACADEMY.

At the Lambeth Executive meeting last Tuesday it beame clear that there will be a sustained campaign to ge the whole of the SHAKESPEARE ROAD site for the proposed new academy.
On offer are 2.3 acres with the rest 3.2 being retained for the Council's refuse and other services.
It is clear that all political parties have a role to play in creating the best possible solution to the
lack of secondary school places and lets hope these energies will be harnassed .
The issue will be addressed by senior members of the Lambeth Administration at our next forum meeting on 12th October at St.Judes school Regent Road 7pm.
