LAMBETH FINANCE REVIEW  ALLOCATION  TO AREA COMMITTEES

As  part of this review   £1m has been earmarked for local  Area committees.
Each will receive  £200K    for use in the  current year.

HERNE HILL RAIL BRIDGE.  SAFETY RAILING
The  Forum has   asked the Dulwich Community Council for funding to put a safety railing unde the railbridge at Herne Hill Junction. Clr Kim Humphries, chair of the DCC   has promised to see if this can be done  from revenue funding pots.


CARNEGIE  GETS FUNDING FOR ROOF REPAIRS.

Another beneficiary  of the Lambeth Opportunities fund  is Carnegie Library . Announcing a total
of £1,1million  for library repairs  over two years Councillor John Whelan twice referred to the
Carnegie Library. There is also an additional £50k for  young persons   books.

BROCKWELL PARK GETS £1,000,000

At a meeting of the Lambeth Executive  alllocation of £16M was made for 52 projects and headings
across the borough. The biggest single beneficiary was Brockwell Park  to enable the HLF    bid to proceed.
This bid will  in turn bring in larger sums.
A total of £3.5 milllion was awarded  to Lambeths Parks  the most significant  decision in living memory
for parks capital works.

POST  OFFFICE MOVES  FROM HERNE HILL.

The PO  are  planning to move to CostCutters  in Norwood Road  from end of September.
Mr Patel  the propietors will be carrying out a major refit of the shop to cater for this.
There are lots of pluses  in this move  especially ease of access  to the shop.
This will help regenerate that parade.At present Olly's Fish Restaurant owner Mr Harry Nazim is extending into the adjacent unit. At we  understand Steve's Cafe plan to do the same thing.
The one draw back is the bus stop as there is a Southbound stop  but no North bound opposite.
However   with the implementation of the Junction improvements it is planned to install a bus stop to help with
this and further regeneration of the parade.

HERNE HILL  PARADE TO GET  FACE LIFT.

An interfaith rally is taking place in London during the first week of   August. 35 Thousand youig people  from all over the country  will be here.
During the week  various social and environmental projects will be carried out and the parade at the top of Herne Hill  is to  benefit from this.  work will take  place 2/3 August.

ENVIRONMENTAL IMPROVEMENTS

Southwark Tree officer  has pl;ace hanging baskets  in Half Moon Lane Herne Hill and Norwood Road.
Shopkeeepers are delighted with this  and Dave Taylor manager of the Street  Leader scheme visited Hh last week  and met with Yvonne Levy and  Katherine Holmes anc Clr Michelle  Pearce.
A lot of graffiti was noted and action has alrday takern place.
There is now a protocal for dealing with Network Rail  property ( bridges etc).
Dave and Michelle  promised to  pursue the  repairs to pavement under the HH brudge and see if a bid coulkd be made  for a safety railing  at this point. Adam Shipley proprietor of Cafe Prov was  keen on this proposal.

MAJOR LONG TERM  CHANGE TO THAMESLINK SERVICE  FROM 5TH SEPTEMBER

Building works  to move the Kings Cross Thamsleslink Station to a new ThamesLinkstation at  St Pancras will  result in the following dispruption to service from 5th September  for  35 weeks.

Northbound trains  terminate  at Kings Cross Thameslink  connecting northern service  15 mins walk to St Pancras.  As an alternative for people with luggage and mobility problems alight  at  City Thames Link for bus to St Pancras.  See statins for further info.  All southbound trains terminate at St Pancras.

THAMESLINK SERVICE ALTERATIONS  TO SERVICE.  #  AUGUST

From  7th to 31st August all south boun trains will terminate at   Wimbledon  There will be a bus replacement service to all  stations to Sutton  See station for full details.

£1  MILLION  FOR BROCKWELL  PARK

At its meeting on Monday 26th July Lambeth Council  consider a list of about 50 community projects
seeking funding  from the an allocation of £16million. Consideration will also be given to allocating

FLOODS
Over 100 people turned up to hear progress reports
on Lambeth & Southwark's enquiries into the flooding.
Clr Kim Humphries, Chair of the Dulwich Community Council introduced a Southwark report.
Clr Jim Dickson introduced the Lambeth report. Jim has been co-ordinating contacts with Lambeth on behalf of the many residents in Dulwich Road who have lost there homesand possessions

JUNCTION

David Coughtrie and Mufu Dorowuju gave an update on the proposed schemes.Mufu indicated that there was £350k
already available £100k from The Council through section 106 agreements. and a further £75k allocated from underspend
The project was likely to cost nearer £1m and further
funding would be sought once costings were know.
Val Shawcross offered to approach the London Development Agency.
