CRIME AT HERNE HILL

Th Forum'S task force has laready met on a joint boundary basis with reps from Southwark and Lambeth. Peter Hore and Andy Ttroke from Tessa Jowells office are taking an active role. He has reponded by sending the deputy borough commander to our next task force meeting on 6th June .Inspector Bill Rodgers who is the Herne Hill Sector Inspector has offered to introcdue the multi agency task force approach as used in hot spots such as Brixton Loughborough Junction and Tuls Hill. Simon Taylor has been involving the Southwark Police in the process and Inspector Ockley will be attending.

MUSIC AT CANNABIS AND OTHER EVENTS.

Shane Collins the events organiser tells the Herne Hill Forum that there is great pressure from young MCS (DJS etc to have their sound system at the event. The art form requires such an opportunity and there are very few where this can be done. I have invited Shane to give us a repoprt on the event.

CANNABIS UPDATE

I have spoken with Shane Collins the event organiser. He made several post event inspections and I met I him on the Tuesday prior to his meeting woith Lee Hills Parks Officer. The toilets didnt turn up as the lorry brining them broke down and the breakdown lorry brought back to the depot and there was nothing in place either with the supplier or the event organiser to arrange a remedy. I still maintain that Lambeth Parks Events officer needs to ensure that there are failsafe measures in place. Without going into details your toilets need to be there a couple of days before hand. I will be taking issue with the procedures in place to manage the waste disposal during the event. The NOISE levels are also an issue and the management of this. Shane assure that he engaged a environmental helath officer to monitor this and was measuring and taking action. Unfortunatley the Council's officer engaged to do this did not show ( sick as per South London Press Friday 16th ( see the great cartoon) page 16. CANNABIS' s own post mortem agreed that there were too many sound stages and that these will be reduced for future events. more on this above.

CANNABIS FESTIVAL IN BROCKWELL PARK
FURTHER EVIDENCE OF THE NEED FOR A PROPER MANAGEMENT INFRASTUCTURE .

The fifth annual festival took place in Brockwell Park on Saturday 3rd. May. About 20 thousand came and there are two main issues . Firstly was the lack of toilets and what ensued as a result of this. Fair dues to Team Lambeth who serviced and opened the ladies and gents toilets adjacent to the BRITISH GAS compound. ( closed for more years than I can remember. Thanks also to Victor Chin-Kit who made available the staff toilets in the Stable lodge. The park was a very untidy state on Sunday and also on Monday morning.
Participants were urninating publicly all over the Park . The Beeches area , which thanks to Lee Hills ring of fallen wood was kept completely clear , became a giant urinal. Considerable defecation took place in the area between HH gate toilets and the Lido carpark entrance. The evidence is still there. The shrubbery to the right of the entrance to the Greenhouse Site was also used as was the area around the GAS STATION . I actually passed this spot on Saturday about 6.30pm to be faced with a large backside peering out. I averted my gaze tout suite. The Forum will seeking a postevent review with Paul Grobler assistant director environmental services .
IF YOU HAVE ANY COMMENT PLEASE SEND THEM TO hernehillforum@mail.com or brockwellpark@mail.com.

ANOTHER SUCCESS GUBYON AVE.

I had a nice note through my door on Friday evening from Roy Fielding.
" Hi Paul I have just passed by Gubyon Ave, the Lamp Post knocked down 2-3 years ago has since the meeting of the HH FORUM been replaced.
Roy Fielding
ps the HH FORUM gets results ".

Thanks to Roy and good luck with your representations on VELODROME. There certainly seems to be issues of privacy and drainage at that part of the stadium that backs on to Villageway properties.

ROSENDALE SCHOOL

It appears that the school has been affected by funding cuts and I have asaked someone with first hand knowledge to report to the website on this. Sufficient to say that following the FORUM meeting last week the matter has been taken up with the school by Tessa Jowell.

HERNE HILL ROAD JUNCTION

At the meeting on Wednesday 30th April Councillor Clare Whelan announced that the Council will be including the junction improvements in the next funding bid to Transport for London . This is excellent progress and thanks to every quarter from DAVID WHYTE, who has lead on this for a long time to the expanded team a.
Councillors Ashley Lumsden and Andrew Sawden have played a key role in getting us to this stage. As we know all ,ocal groupssupport the wider scheme including altaeration to the boundary of Brockwell park along with the improvements that will result to the entrance to the park. This will be a multi agency projects icnluding planning and conservations officers on the issue ofthe loss of Metropolitan Open Land( MOL) so there areseveral hurdles to get over.
