Kindred Bakers have responded to the impact on trade by opening on Sundays. So please keep you trade local.
The bakers in Rosendale Road has closed but I am advised that this due to expiry of lease.

Bothe the hatters and Magdela at 18 and 20 Half Moon Lane are closing due lease expiry.

FRIENDS NEW AND OLD.

I spent a couple of hours today Sunday giving away the last of the recent magazineof FOBP . It was lovely to meet people many who had something to say an even nicer to meet so many friends including Susy Hogarth (Indian Ring Neck Paraqueets) see next FOBP newsletter but I can email you the story paulreynolds@mail.com.

BROCKWELL PARK

The Brockwell Community Green Houses is lokking for more volunteers best time to call in is Sunday afternoon. They also are open Monday and Thursday but these days can change. You can buy a bag load of lovely salade pick and mix for £1 as well as plants and vegetable and strawberry plants etc. This Sunday 27t saw a steady stream of visitors and keen new volunteers. Thanks to AAron and John for the mint tea and rocket etc.

ANNUAL TREE DEDICATION

This year the friends have planted 15 trees paid by indiviual friends of the park. Join us at the Clock Tower Sunday 1stJune at 2pm for the dedication by the new Mayor of Lambeth Councillor Tim Sargeant the prgramme lastas about 2 hours and finishes with tea and cakes in Brockwell Hall.

PARKS UPDATE.

The Lambeth Parks and Green Spaces Forum met 25th April.We met Paul Grobler the new assistant director of environmental service.. Our area parks officer lee Hills was there along with Parks Officers fro other town centres. Also there, Clare Whelan Executive member for Environment.
Brian Palmer Chair of Planning and Clr David Malley ( Streatham). Clare acknowledged the thanks of the Forum for the extra 400K for the budget this year ( currently 250K and stated that it was supported by the full executive. In All 21 attended . Various ideas were put forward. Repairswhich reflect health and safety are always done first. One option was to spend some fo the money on the most deprived areas not supported by Friends Groups.
Paul Grobler was asked if some of the Purple Radio money of ?3k could now spent on some of last years damages.
We also raised the issue of the 6 caravans in the park promoting the Circus at Clapham but with no planned event for Brockwell Park. We pointed out that this seemed irregular and the Parks Officer was not party to the decision.

LIDO LATEST.

Fusion have been nominated as the preferred bidder, which measn their proposal is now being looked at in greater detail and are likely to be
recommended by the Streeting Group to the Executive for formal decision.

The gardens have been transformed of the last year and are now a example of best practice in park managment and community participation. Visit and see all the good thinks you can notice from informative notice boards giving details of parks, historyt and friends and other useful information. The refurbishment of the pond and the park have been done to high standards and the leaving of dead fallen and standing wood a new practice.

EFFRA SCHOOL
....... Councill still want to sell this.. The financial reasons for doing this were laid in 1999 by the previous administration. There is an outside chance of a Steinedr School.. Local parents are seeking a judicial review of the decision.
